Voice of Environment initiative on Republic Day 2021 plantation Drive at Cotton University Premise

On the occasion of the 72nd republic day the team Voice of Environment (Youth Environmental Organization) with the association of Cotton College University conducted a plantation drive at Seetanath Brahma Choudhury Hostel and Botanical Garden of Botany Department of Cotton College University Guwahati, Assam to send a strong message for the vision of sustainable, clean and green Assam.
The drive has been conducted by Cotton University students from various departments led by Mr. Pervez Ali of the Geography Department, Mr Hannam Ali (English Department) and VoE team lead by Bhaskar Hazarika, Mcdonald Choudhury and Sabita Dutta, respectively.
The team has planted various fruit and medicinal plant saplings on the campus. The drive is supported by Cotton College University student union General Secretary Mr. Hirak Patowari, Environmentalist Moharana Choudhury was present Choudhury said about plants’ significance, directly related to our ecological balance, food security, and clean green Assam mission.
Students and youths are future leaders of the country and play a significant role in nation-building initiatives; therefore, the team has decided to conduct the drive at university premise on this august occasion to convey a message to all the students and youth’s community of state and country for joining hands for such initiatives throughout the state and country so that the state and nation can become a self-sufficient, food secured and green as presently the entire world and country is facing COVID-19 pandemic crisis, so we all need to think for better, clean, green, food secured and sustainable environment.
The GS of Cotton University student union and Environmentalist Choudhury together also conveyed that the support will be there for such environmental initiatives for the near future and discussed for other such initiatives together. The team believes, “together we can make a difference”.
